Melbourne Stars preview

BEST XI

Cameron White ($63,300/100k)

Luke Wright ($103,700/85k)

Glenn Maxwell ($126,400/100k)

Kevin Pietersen ($93,500/100k)

David Hussey ($59,100/85k)

James Faulkner ($108,600/100k)

Tom Triffitt ($36,000/TBA)

John Hastings ($90,200/85k)

Clint McKay ($36,800/70k)

Jackson Bird ($104,900/85k)

Michael Beer ($48,300/55k)

– Five front-line bowling options could mean opportunities are limited for Maxwell, Hussey and Wright.

– Quiney could potentially play ahead of Trifitt and take the gloves.

– McKay has been out in the cold for Victoria and has struggled in previous BBL’s. Feldman or Boland could easily play ahead of him.

– Expect Beer to do most of his bowling during the powerplay. History says he’ll be economical but not a big wicket taker. A good Fox Sports pick.

REMAINING SQUAD

Batsmen:  Rob Quiney

All-Rounders: Marcus Stoinis, Alex Keath

Bowlers: Luke Feldman, Scott Boland, Clive Rose, Daniel Worrall

INTERNATIONAL AVAILABILITY

– Wright and Pietersen should be available for the entire tournament.

– Maxwell, Faulkner and most probably White will be selected for the ODI’s starting January 16th. They’ll miss round 8.

FIXTURE ANALYSIS

Bye: Round 2, Round 7

Double: Round 1, Round 8

It’s worthwhile starting with 2-3 stars but you’ll want to trade them out immediately after round 1.
